...and getting stuck in the rain...
what a fabulous run i had yesterday. i called scott around noon and despite the rain, he had his cycling gear so we planned to meet up down in newport for a nice, soggy run. i showed up around 4:30pm and the sky was spitting a little bit, but nothing heavy was coming down. most of the clouds were breaking and the skyline along the ocean was pretty clear, with a beautiful view all the way to catalina again. scott was already there and set to go.
we set off heading to the south along the boardwalk against a VERY tough headwind. i think scott had the harder end of the deal on the bike, but it was still tough on foot. we hit the 3 mile turn-around right at 26:30, so, much slower than what i'd hoped for at the half way point, but not bad considering the headwind. we turned around and were greeted to a great sunset in the making with the sun preparing to drop behind catalina. the return was more on pace, with a negative 4 minute split, finishing off the 6 miles in 48:38.
the run felt great, and having scott along is always a plus. we chatted for a couple minutes after the run, but i needed to head home, since bananafishboneshead, the kurd and sliceemdiceemhead were coming over for dinner. i hopped in the car and started to rush home. i like to take the pch route home after running along the beach. for one, i avoid all the 405 traffic and get home in the same amount of time, but really, it's because of how gorgeous the drive is along crystal cove park and through laguna canyon.
last night was no exception. i was compelled to pull into one of the parking lots along the bluff and pull out the camera to catch some sunset shots, along with some of the HUGE cumulonimbus clouds that were moving inland across the coast to the south.
we finished off the evening with a wonderful pasta and (soy) meatball dinner that smsmh cooked up. bfbh, the kurd and sedeh came over and we got way out of control with laughter. i love having the nieces and nephews around, but it was nice to have an evening where it was just the adults, not to mention both of my sisters. we cracked wise, reminisced and created fun hairstyles. what a crazy bunch we are!
but we had no pina coladas.
Posted by boingo at October 28, 2004 8:15 AM...which is a shame because I adore pina coladas!! At least, I think I do. That is, I like to make pina colada jelly belly beans. Here is my recipe: 1 pineapple jelly belly bean and 2 coconut jelly belly beans... chew and swish for a delightful concoction!!!
