i just fired off an email to the blogfather:
Mark,...
Anyway, I wanted to throw out a proposal. After my race in AZ this
past weekend, I had such a great experience that I've decided to make
the PF Chang's Rock n' Roll Marathon an annual event. Whether it's
the half marathon or the full, I'll run something there each year.
Having my folks buying a place there makes it all that much more
logistically feasible too. Anyway, several other RBF'ers have
mentioned wanting to run the race, like Meghan and Dianna, and Dave
from Sydney ran it this past weekend as well. I thought it might be
kind of fun to try to 'organize' it as a winter destination for the
RBF'ers. Maybe not organize airfare and accommodations, but at least
put it on the calendar as a good winter race for us to meet up at.
The half marathon would be a good challenge for the RBF'ers that are
at the low end of mileage, and a nice training race for those at the
high end. Or, running the full would be an option for those that
wanted to train specifically for the race. With family and friends there to support each individual RBF'er, we'd
have a huge built in cheering squad too. We could probably even
organize a huge pasta feed at my folks place the night before the
race.Anyway, just thought I'd put it out there and see what people thought.
any takers?

Thanks for the comments on my blog, and it was interesting getting your take on the Crucible event. You added some dimensions I hadn't considered.
Posted by: Chris Brogan... at January 12, 2005 8:34 AMThat is a good idea. Uh, but I HATE to fly. Hey, let's make it in Detroit! Yeah, everyone loves Detroit. Its fun like Arizona. Well, not like Arizona, but its fun like...like...like the Bronx Marathon! Yeah! Run or DIE!
What were we talking about? Oh yeah. Rock n roll Marathon RBF meeting. Sounds very cool to me. Maybe I can drive. :)
Posted by: Jon in Michigan at January 12, 2005 10:44 AMI'm game!!! Next month I am off to Tampa for a half marathon and a gathering of my fellow penguin runners. It would be cool to do something similar with the RBFers.

sounds like a good idea! good way to start off the year too. nice race btw.
I was just talking to Annalisa the other day about how much I'd like to do something like this. There is SO much potential for fun and growth for our little (?!) Running Blog Family.
Thanks Jeff. :) Let's keep at this idea!
Posted by: Mark at January 12, 2005 2:44 PMI think that race might be one of the ones Team in Training is considering. I'll find out Tuesday...and who knows...maybe I'll be ready! A great idea.
Posted by: susan at January 12, 2005 3:25 PMGreat idea. I would love to meet other runners from the RBF.
