out of control

okay, the rest week is done and i've got a monster of a week before me. the coach threw a 55 mile week at me, with the only non-speed work days being a 10 miler today and a four miler on saturday.

i hit back bay last night to do five with 6x30 second strides. bryan was out with the vanguard girls, who were doing 1000m repeats (at a 5:40 mile pace). he asked if i wanted to join them...uh...no thanks, bryan. haha! inspired by their speed, i set out on my own run a little quick. half way through the run, i realized again, that picking it up for the strides would be a challenge at the pace i was running. but, dangit if running quick didn't feel GOOD!

i rolled up the bluff to finish the run, stopped the watch at 5.11 miles and was shocked to see 35:58, a 7:02 pace. a far cry from the 5:40 the girls were doing, but nice and quick for me. the pump from the fast run had me bouncing off the walls with energy the rest of the night.

this morning, though, i'm pooped. energized, but tired and i feel yesterday's run in my legs. planning on doing the 10 during a long lunch break today (got a family party to go to tonight) so we'll see how that goes and whether or not i fall asleep at the computer this afternoon.

despite being tired, i'm still greeting everyone with a smile this morning. isn't it great to be alive and to FEEL?!

Feel when I dance with you,
We move like the sea.
You, you're all I want to know.
I feel free, I feel free, I feel free.

I can walk down the street, there's no one there
Though the pavements are one huge crowd.
I can drive down the road; my eyes don't see,
Though my mind wants to cry out loud.

I feel free, I feel free, I feel free.

I can walk down the street, there's no one there
Though the pavements are one huge crowd.
I can drive down the road; my eyes don't see,
Though my mind wants to cry out loud,
Though my mind wants to cry out loud.

Dance floor is like the sea,
Ceiling is the sky.
You're the sun and as you shine on me,
I feel free, I feel free, I feel free.

Damn, Mark always gets the best lines.

Nice run, Jeff. 7:02 is a super speedy run! Sometimes its hard not to run fast. The legs seems to have their own idea for the training. :)

Mr. Speedy Pants. Nicely done!

Some people may not understand what you meant by: "this morning, though, i'm pooped. energized, but tired" - but I totally know what you mean.

5:40 pace? Right. And I'll bench press 400 lbs. tomorrow.

7:02 is so much faster than I can sustain. I can hit a pace like that for perhaps a mile with a mild downhill slope assisting me. Five miles in real terrain? Sheesh. You're fast.
