there's so much fun stuff from this weekend to blog about, i'm going to have to limit myself. or just mention each item in one line. so, a quick, couple line recap of the weekend:
friday's intervals: the five mile repeats at 7:00 were quite easy, and actually ended up being 6:59, 6:55, 6:51, 6:51 and 6:36.
saturday's adventure: headed out to the high desert to watch the subaru rim of the world rally. my friend, tim, and i now want to purchase a ford pinto and start rallying.
saturday's show: loretta lynn is absolutely amazing. at 73(?) she's still belting out amazing tunes, knows how to please the crowd and has got to be one of the hardest working singers i've ever seen (she came out on stage and sang even though she was sick). jack white was a no-show though...
sunday's run: the 19 miles felt near effortless. i ran up the aliso creek trail towards cook's corner, turned around at 9.5 miles and posted awesome negative splits the whole way back. the joints were doing the "we there yet? we there yet?" thing by the finish, but i felt wonderful. word to the wise, don't start your 19 miler without checking for band aids on your nipples.
sunday's festivities: got to hang with mom, mother-in-law, sister-in-law (a mom) and sister(bfbh - also a mom). there were kids -a-plenty, lots of good food, lots of swimming, and lots of celebrating moms.
the weekend netted a tired, very happy and lobster looking jeff.
Posted by jeff at May 9, 2005 10:32 AMwow. great job Jeff. And, I SO agree with the bandaid suggestion!
Posted by: mark at May 9, 2005 11:43 AMGreat job on getting those miles in. Never needed bandaids, but I sure pay if I don't use that stick stuff - and stick deodarant works in a pinch, but not sure if it helps you guys out.
Posted by: Dawn (aka Pink Lady) at May 9, 2005 11:55 AMOw! Gotta watch the bandaids, man. My wife's job now if to remind me to take my bandaids in case I forget.
Posted by: Jon in Michigan at May 9, 2005 12:04 PMno way you got to see a rally race? thats on my list of things to do in this lifetime. looks like fun.
awesome 19 miler. that is too far for my brain to truly comprehend but it sounds like it was an awesome run.
Posted by: brent at May 9, 2005 5:45 PMGreat job the 19 miler! I know that "we there yet?" feeling all too well. And no band aids? Ouch! That hurts for a few days.
Posted by: BD at May 9, 2005 9:24 PMSounds like training is going extremely well, nipples aside.
Rally sounds great. Interesting rumors about Armstrong running Paris-Dakar next year are floating about.
Posted by: jank at May 9, 2005 9:29 PMSounds like a great weekend! I think I'll pass on the nipple-bandaids, but I'm going to start putting my bodyglide with my long-run belt, so I don't forget. Bra-line rashes ain't no fun either.
19 MILES with negative splits - woohoo! I was happy just to get in 18 KM.
Posted by: Karen in Calgary at May 9, 2005 9:54 PMI can "hear" the great weekend in your voice. Well done!
Posted by: susan at May 10, 2005 3:34 PMI've been suggesting for years that men carry purses. The man bag. Or the satchel, if you will. But it seems like men should also consider a sport bra.
