smsmh and i scooted pretty fast after the race on monday. i was hungry and i figured there were so many people ahead of me that i never would have taken a placing. what i didn't know was that i'd passed quite a bit of my competition during the run and only came in 64 back from the leader. even if i'd known that, i don't think i would have stuck around for the awards ceremony. i still don't think it's sunk in that i'm making big strides in my speed, especially at the shorter distances.
well, checking my official results this morning, i saw that i came in at 19:56 rather than 19:57 and there was a '3' in one of columns. i scrolled up the list and the '3' was in the Div Place column. i took 3rd place in the M35-39 division. WOW!
talk about a huge confidence boost! i think i may stick around for the awards ceremony at the 1/2 marathon on saturday...

maybe you shouldn't wear your elvis outfit on saturday after all... all that hair might slow you down... not to mention pushing the juke box!

Congratulations! Isn’t it crazy how one second can make a difference in racing. All the non-runners out there are probably thinking, "who cares! It is only a second." But to us–it makes a huge difference! :) Way to go!
