well, no beans to spill, yet.
although, aa, i did get wade a ticket to ct. he'll be there to cheer you on for hartford. look for the big cardboard placard at mile 20 that says, "April Anne, will you marry me?".
yesterday was redemption day. huge track workout on the schedule, 11 miles total. it had been raining on and off most of the day, so the local high school tracks were soaked. i'd heard that soka, a fairly new university nearby, had a nice, new rubber track, so i thought i'd head over and check it out.
the track was up on a bluff, looking down on wood canyon wilderness park and across to the ridge line that tops laguna canyon. you couldn't ask for a better view. it was amazing. the track was in great shape, too, but they had barriers that prevented you from running in lanes 1-3. not sure why they had those set up, i'd never seen that before.
anyway, i dove into the workout, a little leery of the pace for the mile intervals, especially after sunday's tough long run. i warmed up with an easy three miles and then got ready for the 5x1 mile intervals. i hit the first mile a little fast and by the end of the last lap i was sucking wind. i slowed it down a tad for the next mile and really hit my stride. i knocked off all five and felt like i could have done a couple more.
splits were 6:17, 6:24, 6:26, 6:25, 6:21
i cooled down with another three miles and then spent a good 20 minutes stretching. i pulled something at the top of my right calf and it felt a little tender, so i made a point of really focusing on stretching everything i could think of. it feels much better this morning, so i'm not too concerned.
feeling as good as i did on the speedwork was a great confidence booster after sunday's run. life has been pretty whirlwindish the past few weeks, too, so good, motivating runs like this really help my mental perspective.
Posted by jeff at September 21, 2005 8:04 AMDid you make sure to take the jet-packs off before you got into the car? This could be very dangerous...
Just wow on the splits!

Posted by: Oldman at September 21, 2005 11:47 AMOur university does that nixing of lanes 1-3 as well. I think it's just becuase they get so much traffic as it is...And we can't run the track in the snow. :(
