October 7, 2006

of gauntlets and 140.6 miles

what was the conversation that smsmh and i had last week? oh yeah...that i was feeling like i was rudderless? that my training didn't feel right without an "a" race to focus on? yeah...that conversation.

well, that has...um...changed. at a birthday lunch for some close friends of ours today, another couple, whom we've run with in the past, mentioned a certain event in florida in november of 2007. and said event has been blessed by smsmh. i'm keeping the fingers crossed that a year is plenty of time to train up for this thing.

woohoo! consider me stoked.

*head explodes*

Yeeeeehaw!

you. suck.

but i mean that in a nice way, of course.

i have no doubt that a year is plenty of time for you. you are the amazing hip, after all.

no. doubt. at. all.

hmmm...i wonder if i can manage a trip to florida in november 2007 to volunteer at some insane race?

Goals are important, aren't they jeff?? And if running teaches us nothing else, that is a useful one.

I'm staying tuned!!!

Whoa, that's one hell of a rudder!

Posted by: DREW at October 8, 2006 1:12 PM

Yikes. When you ask for an "A" event, you really pick 'em. Good luck with your training. It ought to make for interesting reading.

PS. I heard that Amy is joining the BTT blogs too. Hurray for BTT.

This is very cool! It's always nice to have the blessing of the S.O.! Enjoy the journey, I'm sure you will.

FANTASTIC!

Ultra running for me always was about setting goals for events that were not only an incredible journey, in training, but have given me some of life's greatest lessons. Now I 'm spending more time endurance riding on my horses... and they are my greatest teachers

The greatest of all victories is to be victorious over yourself. Enjoy the ride.

i knew it. i KNEW it. I KNEW IT. you have been taken over by the dark side, anakin.

Wow - fun goal!

Hopefully I'll be recovered from the TOP SECRET GOAL FOR 2007 by then, so's I can come down and heckle... er, cheer you on! ;)

Anywho - should be fun, you should be able to tackle it (it's Florida, after all - where are they gonna find any hills for the bike leg?), you'll be surrounded by friends (though I'd watch out for Flipper), and it's FLORIDA (what's not to like?)!

I must say Im jealous. And I know what you mean about not having a goal race. Its stupid, but true.

Posted by: Mark at October 10, 2006 9:15 AM

No question you are capable of such a thing. Rock on bro!

Congratulations! I must say that signing up for an IM really is the perfect response to being overwhelmed with all that is on your plate ;-)

You crazy man!

I also had no idea you had been in the Gulf War. I'm so glad you made it back alive.

I ♥ your Mom for her message to you. How sweet and Momly. I call my son 'Sweet Son' all of the time so that really resonated with me.

Hang in there and remember - one step at time, one thing at a time, it all works out.

That's awesome. I hope to do a tri next year but Ironman, so cool for you. Too bad it wasn't this year, I'd get to see you finish.

There IS NOTHING you cannot do.
