community. wiki says:
The word community comes from the Latin communis, meaning "common, public, shared by all or many."
in that vein, i'm asking for community to take part in the first steps of raising a boy in a healthy, fitness focused lifestyle. as most of you know, smsmh and i will be adopting baby thunderclap newman smith on may 31st of this year. typically, there are baby showers and baby registries for friends and family. when i think about my friends and family, the fitness blogging community has evolved into a integral part of MY family, MY friends. so, in that vein, i've set up a chip-in account to let my friends and family that have made fitness a part of their lives make fitness a part of tc's life.
i've selected a baby jogger and bike trailer that i'd like to let the blogging world purchase for tc. every run that we take him on, every ride that he cruises through will have been brought to him by my community; the community that has seen the importance of fitness as a lifestyle. click the widget in the upper right hand corner of the main blog page to 'chip-in'!
smsmh, thunderclap and i thank you!
Posted by jeff at April 25, 2007 2:20 PMThat is a great idea!
Are you ever going to tell us Thunderclap's real name? I think we deserve to know, chipping in and all.
Posted by: Laurie at April 25, 2007 4:37 PMThank you for sparing me the agony of 'what would Jeff and smsmh want for the baby'.
I don't know what Laurie is talking about - the boy's name IS Thunderclap. It's perfect!
Posted by: 21stCenturyMom at April 25, 2007 6:14 PMwhat a wonderful idea...i'll have to find out from you how to put one of those money things on my blog. ha, that would solve a lot of problems around here. i would love to chip in and may still but cannot seem to stop buying fun clothes and boy gear. sorry! plus, I am not sure if running a few miles a week puts me in that community.
Posted by: kurd at April 25, 2007 8:16 PMWhat a great idea! I hope you and tc enjoy every ride and every run together :)
