Lately I've found myself getting into conversations with complete strangers about running, and I've been giving plenty of thought to incorporating workouts to improve my lactic acid tolerance and AT rather than focusing mainly on distance. Also I've been looking into information about various drills aimed at trying to improve my running form. It occurred to me as I was lying in bed last night that I'm no longer just a geek trying to run... I'm becoming a runner.
I had my first simple interval training run this morning. It was meant to be medium intensity, but it felt more like a "hard" workout. Either I pushed it too hard, or I just need to get more used to it. It's all part of the learning, grasshopper.
On another note, I've decided to go ahead and purchase a Forerunner 305, which Jeff was kind enough to offer to help me get from the US - much cheaper than they're available for here in Australia. The HR monitor will be a huge help, and it'll be nice not to have to pre-measure my running routes to know how far I'm going. Plus, there are all the other nifty features that I get to take advantage of.
