some idiot
Inspired by numerous runners jumping on the ironman bandwag this year. I decided to put in some pool time on my day off. I arrived at the pool yesterday morning to do some laps. It’s was 8.30am, and just me and 7 golden girls complete with fancy swim caps. I just wanted to swim up and down in a straight line, but neither Dorothy, Rose or Blanche had any clue what a lane was. There were pool noodles and foam weights here, there and everywhere, the only thing missing were cocoon pods in the bottom of the pool.
I managed to get 40 minutes in, only having to change lanes 4 times to avoid the drifting backstrokers. I finally called it a day when Edith starting doing laps across the pool.
Then it was off to transition 1. Shower, blowdry and change into running gear, repack bag, find car in staging area, then a quick stop at Timmy’s to refuel.
T1 – 44 minutes – very impressive, I might organise a transition clinic.
Met J for run number 6. We had a really good run, my legs felt great. Even the IT Band. Actually it has felt great all day. Then I remembered I popped 2 ibuprophens before the swim so they should get some credit.
When I got home and took off my running shoes I glanced down to notice something odd. I think I may have found the source of my IT problems.
The left insole is missing from my shoe. Some idiot must have removed it. Probably the same idiot that took their insoles out of another pair of wet shoes and placed them over a heater to dry. Shockingly, the left insole melted during this drying method. So in order to rectify this, some idiot has been switching insoles from other shoes. This has worked, until recently, when some idiot forgot.
So this idiot, which unfortunately happens to be one and the same as some idiot, has been running for a week (at least) without an insole in her left shoe.
Guess which leg the IT band problem is in!!!!

Doh! That's embarassing. She isn't allowed to drive a car is she? :D
Don't you wish all injuries were that easy to fix?

not an idiot thing at all! whenever i add swimming to my routine i feel the running becoming more effortless. kinda like same pace and an easier feeling, or same feeling and a faster pace. try it!
