5 to go

My ideal conditions to run a marathon would be, sunny with cloudy break, light wind, no humidity and temperatures ranging from mid 40s to low 50s.

The worst case scenario would be hot, humid and rainy.

Here is the forecast for Chicago on marathon day

Yeah ... what's with that?

It's fall, the season of crunching leaves, crisp mornings, wearing sweaters, eating casseroles and pies.

It's October!

This doesn't just reak havoc with race day, no sir, it is so much more than that. Tomorrow, Friday and Saturday are all going to be over 85!

It's October!

How's a girls supposed to pack! Let's not even speak about the effect on my hair.

It seems weird and wrong to be wearing summer clothes? But it's 85 degrees out. I'm so over summer clothes, I want to wear fall clothes. I don't care I'll be a tourist in a foreign city, I'll wear my white capri pants, and I'll wear them proudly!

Every distrubing bad timed heatwave cloude has a silver lining. My legs (with the exception of my painful right foot) feel great. They felt the best they have felt in weeks last night. Taper must be doing something!

OMG..I ran my 20 miler today it was only 73 but it still felt like a heat wave compared to recent weather. You should run Detroit instead, the weather is usually cool with a light drizzle and crazy winds...wait, isn't that supposed to be Chicago weather for the month of October?
I'm sure you will do just fine..maybe wear a hat!

Based on your posts, you'd be ready for this thing if it snowed, sleeted and hailed. You've got this. Now all that's happening is you're getting better stories for later.

It was soooo cold last year when I ran Chicago... you just never know how the weather will really be. Bring *all* the running clothes, just in case!

And for the hair and the humidity, well, I use Frizz-Ease hairspray - it worked pretty well in the miserable humidity for me!

Have fun!!!! And congrats on all your training - you are so awesome!

You'll have a great run this weekend. After the work you've put in, a little thing like NATURE won't stand in your way

Yeah, I am so not pumped about that. It's Chicago! In October! Why is it still over 80? Not happy.

You'll be awesome, though! I might be pacing a friend for part of the race, but I'll keep an eye out for you.

You're going to do great, weather be damned.

My naturally curly hair is also not a fan of the humidity. I feel your pain!

agree with Greg.

you SO got this no matter WHAT Mother Nature throws your way.

Dude what's a little rain between friends and you are in fact friends with the outdoors after the last 100 days. But i'll still have my fingers crossed that the rain holds off.

Come on....with (at that point) 98 runs done, what's a little heat and humidity?

YOU ARE A MACHINE!

maybe you should go shopping for a cute little running skirt? That should be a nice pick me up.

Oh, and did I mention that we're supposed to get snow this weekend?

Here here! You can totally wear white after Labor Day. It's so old fashioned not to! Here's hoping the weather changes on race day.
