I ended my last post a little abruptly. I wish I could say it was for something even marginally important.

It wasn’t.

The post should of concluded with me telling you what I am doing – not doing

So, here it is

Rest.

6 weeks of rest.

Nothing high impact on my foot. I’ve signed up for a 5k race on March 21, which isn’t quite 6 weeks, more like 4, but I think this would be a good goal to test out the rested foot.

In the mean time ….

I can swim, weight-train, cycle, do yoga, and drink alcohol.

P.O.M
– I am loving the rehab idea, either Betty or Promises work for me, I would like somewhere warm so I can work on my tan!

CONFESSION ...

While writing the post, I was also watching TV, I changed the channel and found ‘The Rock of Love”. A new reality show where the lead singer of Poison looks for love. Think the bachelor circa 1984. Twenty something years have not been kind Bret.

Since 1986 when MTV introduced the world to the blue-eyed lead singer of Poison, women around the world have worshiped Bret Michael's as a veritable Rock God. Never out of the spotlight, Bret is still...

Living in 1984!

The best part, apart from the stripper pole and fake tan, is when he asks them to stay … He says …

Will you Rock my World?

I limped to the doctor on Monday. He sat patiently, as I recapped the last week of a long run, a little more pain, no running, a short run, more pain, inability to walk, no long run. Of course, I used dramatic hand gestures, emotional facial expressions, long pauses and a few sighs for good measure.

He sent me for more xrays and scans.

I got the results back this afternoon. It seems I have not one but two stress fractures. One in the side of my foot, where it hurts, shockingly, and one on my second toe, ironically the 'this little piggy had none'. Tired of having nothing and stuck beside beef and wee wee would be enough to make anyone crack.

If this wasn't enough. This morning while I was getting ready for work, I stubbed 'this little piggy stayed home' the one on my good foot on the dresser. Do you know what you do when you stubbed your toe really hard. Like bring tears to your eyes hard. You automatically lift the stubbed foot and start hopping around while swearing on the other one.

Can you see the problem? The hopping foot, is my bad foot. Do you know what happens when you try and hop on a bad foot, when the other one is too sore to put down and you are swearing like Gordon Ramsey in the middle of a dinner service?

You give up. You fall down. You lie there. After a few minutes of staring under the bed you realise how much it needs vacuumed.

My foot has been bothering me for months. So long I can barely remember when it started. I think it was during the last few weeks of 100 days of consecutive running, sometime in September. It hurt during the Grand Rapids Marathon, but I was heavily ibuprophen'd up, and I kept chanting that once this was over I would never have to run again, ever.

The pain started in my heel. It hurt to land on my heel. So I've been landing on the outside of my right foot. For a while. Like four months. The outside edge of my right foot is pretty pissed off.

I didn't run much in November and December, it seemed to get better. When I started training again in January, as the miles increased so did the pain. I got some xrays done, but nothing came of that. I kept running, cause well, I think if I ignore it, it will just go away. It hurt more after running, normally after a few miles it felt okay, that was until last week, when running became painful.

So I took 4 days off. I ran yesterday, and it hurt. Then yesterday afternoon it got worse. This morning I got up to do my 16 mile long run and couldn't walk on it.

I didn't run.

It's frustrating, but I think I know the ignoring isn't working.

Well , I didn't quit my job and become a jazz dancer.

Apparently, there is formal training and auditions, which seems like a lot of work and quite frankly beneath me. Plus, I don't think it will get me any closer to my real goal of doing a lot of nothing in the Caribbean. Not that sitting here in front of my computer gazing outside at what can only be described as artic conditions is getting any nearer to white sands and endless rum punch ... sigh

In 22 minutes the weekend officially begins. The weekend will include, but not limited too

trip to the gym, going out for dinner, hot yoga, a short run, a long run, a nap, hockey game, grocery shopping, laundry, a bottle of wine and at least two awkward situations. I promise I will write about both the short and long run, no matter if they are good, bad or ugly, you are going to get all to dets!

I'm gonna be a celebrity
That means
Somebody everyone knows
They('re) gonna recognize my eyes
My hair my teeth my boobs my nose

I saw my favourite musical last night. Chicago! It was incredible. Today I am quitting my job and becoming a jazz dancer ... wish me luck!

I had a good run. Finally. It seems like ages since I could say that.

We were supposed to do our long run yesterday, but the weather stopped that. I got up Sunday morning, looked out, a little rain, but otherwise it looked okay. I got dressed and headed out. That's when I realized it wasn't just a little rain, it was ice rain. I couldn't get to my car. The driveway was thick with shiny ice.

Devasting! Yippee. Ice day. Back upstairs I went. Off with my running clothes on with sweats.

This morning was mild and most of the ice was melted. There were a few slippery spots but the roads were quiet due to the holiday. I got almost 9 miles in. My foot was a little tender, but nothing like it normally is. I am wondering if the snow and bad footing that we have been running on is what is causing or irritating my foot?

I also listened to my Ipod during the run, which I never do. I knew there would be no one running this morning around my pace so I thought it would help distract me. It did. Thank you Dylan, Miko, Aerosmith and Fergie.

I scrolled through my last few entries and I realized none of them are about running. Funny enough, this is meant to be a running blog.

The reason of my lack of mentions of running is not, as you are probably thinking, because I have given up. No sir! I am running. But I don't want rant about how crap running is, how it hurts, how I hate it. No one likes a negative nellie now do they. So, I just don't mention it. Which will give you an idea as to how long it's been since I had a good run.

In lieu of my running high that seems to be alluding me I am filling my life with other things that will bring me happiness.

Tonight I am going to see this ....

I've read the reviews, and it I should be embrassed that I am paying cold hard cash for this, but I'm not, I am giddy with excitement!
