the ups ....

When you change from the full to the half, you get to:

  • Do a long run on Saturday morning, that takes less than two hours.
  • Sleep in on Sunday, not run, and experience zero guilt.
  • Wear stilettos two days in a row with no pain or regrets.
  • Do your speedwork (8 x 800m) on the treadmill to avoid the cold and rain.
I liked the idea of running long on Saturday (I always do my long run on Sunday), the last Sunday I didn't run was in May.

So, my alarmless Sunday morning was bliss. However, I am not use to running on Saturday morning, so I ate badly (bar snack as dinner) and had a couple beers and a glass of wine Friday night. It took me a while to wake up and kick it into gear on Saturday.

Last night it was cold and raining. Half-way to the park to do speedwork with the group I turned the car around and went to the gym.

I do not like the treadmill, but it was kinda fun last night. I did 800s while watching CNN. I feel faster, slightly better informed and a bit depressed.

I do all my workouts on the mill from Nov until it's warm again in April. Unless we get a sunny warm day then I'll venture out.

Great post!!! I think doing 1/2's are much more doable, I can see myself doing those a lot more than fulls!

I hear you! I am going from a full to a half, and am so looking forward to the long runs!
