thanks ever-buddy !
this would mark the second day of a skipped run since i began the training and i am feeling kinda guilty about it, but more so, kinda great about it. im stinkin exhausted!!!!!!!
plus... as i mentioned yesterday... i had a deep-tissue massage last night and ummm, well. i'm kinda wondering why everyone raves about them so much!!??! they HURT!!!! not so much with the super-relaxing-feeling-good-ness. i mean... at one point she was just RAMMING her elbow into my butt cheek and folks... that don't feel so good! i woke up this morning feeling like wrestled a polar bear last night. yowie.
however, i'm in much better spirits, and, dare i say it, am looking forward to getting back out there on saturday and conquering some hills!!!?!!? (and BTW, i didnt really know long runs were supposed to be that much slower... that makes me feel a lot better. thanks!!)
so, muchas gracias para el consejo (whoaaaa, dunno where that come from).... i just love our little RBF. dunno what i'd do withou'cha!!

Part of what kept me running was the amazing support truly elite athletes provide to penguins like me. Like you, I'm currently on a "days off" hitch, as I seem to have stress fractured my foot. I took my mid-week-sorta-long-run off, and will try 4 miles, tonight.Hal Higdon believes in deep tissue massages, and warns against them the last week or so before a race. For exactly the reason you mentioned. Keep us informed on how you feel about it. It's something I've never ventured to try.

Sometimes the run just doesn't happen. Go with it. You will be GREAT on race day. Have you signed up for any shorter distance races? They're great for keeping you motivated during marathon training. Pick up a Runner's World if you can't find a race. The Penguin's column always makes you feel good about your running - no matter how fast, slow, long, short, dilligent, or sporadic it may be. It doesn't get any better than crossing the finish line at a marathon. Seriously. Nothing is better. Keep it up!

Just wanted to drop by and say, hang in there...I am not a runner either and at the age of 42 with a kidney transplant, I've decided to train for a marathon. I started running in July and the marathon is in November. Nutz huh?

I picked up a copy of 'Chi Running'. While I don't really believe in Chi from a metaphysical standpoint, I am a martial artist and believe in it from a psychological and physics standpoint. This book has a lot of good information on running form and how to avoid injury. I'm really learning a lot so far, and really improving quickly.I like the new pic, but thought you were cute in the hat also. I kinda miss that one now.

someone (ch-HMM, not mentioning names) commented that i looked different in the running pics than my profile pic, so i switched it up and, alas, now i've gotten comments the hat pic was better.::sigh:: there's no pleasing the people ;)

Girls have a lot of options in their look. They can change their hair, wear more or less (or no) makeup, or any of a number of other changes. That's why guys are dumbstruck when the girl that he was running trails with a few hours ago comes downstairs in a black dress looking amazing. We can't do that. Guys are pretty much as we are. Put us in a tux, and we look pretty much the same, only in a tux.
