Your parents rock! I love parents who fly around the country to watch these "little" races. And don't worry about us. It sounds like you've got more important things going on right now with work and that "little" race up ahead. We'll all be here when you get back. :)

That's so great that your parents are coming out to watch you! I love watching for people I know in the crowd, somehow it just keeps my mind moving.

BTW, for Flatman...You're supposed to expand your horizons and visit other blogs. That ensures that you don't have any risk of being caught working.

Just wait. You're in the last couple of weeks of training before you begin to taper. The last three weeks, as mileage decreases, you'll suddenly find yourself with "all kinds of time."Of course, you'll actually start going nuts because you aren't running as much. And the last week is great. You're at or close to current peak performance, and you can barely run at all. Much as I dislike running, the last week before a marathon is absolutely maddening. It's thumb twiddling time.

I know how you feel, my parents came to my first 1/2 marathon last May...I was really struggling around mile 11, just as I happen to pass my parents on the street... my Dad, in his regular clothes, jumps out from the side of the road and actually starts to run with me for about 1/4 of a mile, encouraging me on....I look back on that as one of my fondest running memories.....and you're right, it does make a HUGE differece if people you care about are there. That is great news!!!
