pinched nerve?


look, i ran!!!!!!!! and it wasn't horrible!!!!!! and it made me remember that i like to run!!!!!! hoorah!!!!!!

the run was super-fab, and i trotted along, basking in the runnery-ness of the morning (early morning. cool almost cold out, fog/mist, dewy grass...ya know...runnery!!), and then as soon as i started thinking about doing a 3rd lap (4 mile loop) right around mile seven i somehow pinched a nerve in my left hamstring!!!!!!!!

except minus the !!!!!! cuz thats not a good thing!

yeah i am so being punished by the Marathon Training Gods... and even after repenting, cleansing my running-soul, and vowing to return to the days of oomph and crazy weekday running glory... the gods had other things in mind.

i dunno what happened... but i have been relegated to hobbling about like an old woman, gingerly stretching/bending my leg to see how long the pain is gunna last. its all very comical really. of course as soon as i'm back to hoorah running!! i have some sort of stupidness with the 'ole hammy, because now i want to run.... but can't.

ok Running Gods. joke's on me. no more slacking off. you can make it stop now!!!

guh. why must i always learn the hard-way, hmm?!

How do you know it's a pinched nerve? Like me, do you self-diagnose?? The sooner the bettter to the doctor, just to be on safe side (not that it's done me one iota of good so far.) I'm gonna try ibuprofen on saturday. and maybe some heroin. or crack. except they all make me puke.i'm just tryin' to see the funny side in all of this!! You'll be fine, you are young, you will heal fast!! I swear it. (what the hell do i know though, really?!!!) just sending those good vibes. and whatever happens, we three are GONNA meet up for a run at some point!!

oh god now i'm scared. i'm going to Austin again this weekend (right in time for tropical storm RITA to ruin the 3 day music fest i'm going down for...errrrrrr)but if its not better by the time i have my long run down there/get home, i'll call my doc, for sure!(please be better...please be better...)

I know how you feel, I have been on vacation for 12 days and have only run for 4 of them! And I have a race in 2 and a half weeks! Only a 5K though, but still!As far as injuries concerned I was also punished for doing too much too soon and pulled my hip adductor. *#$%@ that hurt! Took me a month to get back on track and am now paranoid about it. Sigh...why do I do this...oh yeah, I actually enjoy running! Will hopefully get my training back on track this week ... hopefully!

Well, I pulled my hamstring (mildly) about 10 days prior to my first marathon. 1000 mg of ibuprofen and a lot of Biofreeze on race day helped me finish.Keep an eye on it, and don't be like me. If it lasts more than a couple days without improvement, stop by a doctor. I went a week and a half with what I thought was a minor pull, and found out I had actually damaged myself.

oh no, sounds like running gods are playing with many headed toward upcoming marathons! pay close attention to your body, don't push too hard. only a month from your marathon, 2 weeks from taper (or one depending on how much you're tapering). almost there so take care of yourself! i send "good, good, good, good vibrations.."

EVERYONE CHEATS ON THEIR RUNNING A LITTLE BIT. BUT RUNNING WITH SOMEONE ELSE DOES SORT OF GIVE YOU MORE OF A COMMITTMENT TO PUTTING IN THE TIME. AT LEAST IT DID WITH ME WHEN I RAN WITH TNT.
