mentally tough

"...it's only pain and it's only suffering. It's not going to kill you. And if it's not going to kill you, what's the big deal?"

~Chris Kostman,AdventureCORPS

i'm done freaking out about this. i've put too much of myself into this to let it all fall apart a few days before the race. he's right. Army Runner Guy is right. at this point i have two choices, i can either deal with the pain, or not run.

not running is not an option.

so... suck it up and run. its only pain and its not going to kill me. i'll do it because i have to. end of story. i'm not this whiney "ouch it hurts" obnoxious girly-girl. thats not me. so enough already.

ENOUGH. we are done with the knee stuff. i'm over it.
(as she pops a few ibuprofen!!...ha. kidding....wait a minute, no i'm not....!)

so, some other business to attend to... i've been tagged!

here are the rules...
1. Go into your archives.
2. Find your 23rd post.
3. Find the fifth sentence (or the closest one to it)
4. Post the text of your sentence in your blog along with these rules.
5. Tag five other people.

Post 23: to my non-running friends

sentence 5: "hmm.. its 7am. this time tomorrow i'll be somewhere between my 5th and 6th mile. its stinkin hot out. awesome"..

okay. now to tag 5 others...how about Stephanie, Josh, Viper, Ali and Jeanne !! consider yourselves tagged... you're it!

Jeanne, OOOH that guy has done it ALL! He's done triple Ironman races, run the Badwater 135 course (he's in fact, the organizer of the 135-mile run in Death Valley in JULY!), cycled 508 miles at a pop - trust me, if anyone knows about pain and suffering, it's him. ;)I love that quote - way to find the light, Alejandrita! But if it wears off, go and buy these movies on Amazon: Running on the Sun and Touching the Void. They will cure you of all "this sucks-ness" for the rest of your life!

Yay! I'm glad you're putting it behind you. And of course, there is no option but running. Can't wait to be out in San Fran this weekend. We're going to have a blast!

OK for some reason I can open your blog from my work computer but not from home hmmmm...Anyway, just push that knee out of your mind and maybe buy that knee strap thing for added security (mental nad physical). I'll be cheering for you from Maine :)

Ice, ibuprofen, rest. I know you're not supposed to, but I pop an Aleve before I do my long runs so that my hamstring doesn't bother me. Good luck on Sunday! I'll be there too :)-Lanhttp://monkeyhead.diaryland.com
