i made a mess!!
dying your hair by yourself in a small bathroom late at night really shouldn't be all that difficult.
leave it up to me though, and...
well. you know.
things were going well for me for the most part... i read the directions, followed each guideline, poured, shook, applied my little heart out but, as i continued i realized...
there is an excessive amount of hair dye going here. this is a small bottle. i have a relatively normal amount of hair.. why is there so much dye left over?
am i supposed to use all of it?
its getting absolutely everywhere.. is this right? this can't be right...
having paused to consider this conundrum i decide, using my highly developed reasoning skills.... the more dye i use - the better!
so i emptied the thing on my head.
good. done. wait 25 minutes for it all to congeal.
can do.
i went into the living room and planted myself in front of the tv to pass the time.
roughly 15 minutes later...
uhh.. ok ow.
ow. i don't really like this.. i uh...
ok yeah that kinda... no that definitely, uh. yeah, no. thats a burning sensation. i'm definitely getting a burning, sort of not fantastic feeling on my head...
i don't think i was supposed to use all that dye.
with this sudden and rather painful realization i ran to the shower, blasted the water, and jumped in.
SON OF A B*TCH!!
purple everywhere.
i flipped. not my bathroom, not my shower... not good.
the water, connecting with my overly chemicaled hair, was getting dye everywhere.
in a state of panic for what to do next, i stepped out from under the water, took the faucet off the wall, and attempted to spray down the walls before the dye could stain.
while frantically hozing down the shower, the dye, which is no longer thick and creamy and holding my hair in place, is running down my face, down my back... all over. i'm swiping and wiping and while doing so realize the directions explicity say not to get it on your face and not to massage into your skin, so i'm thinking....
DOUBLE B*TCH
so now i'm scared my face is turning purple, i've got splattered purple spots on the walls, i'm naked (cuz i'm ya know.. in the shower. this fact seemed to slip my mind at the time. all i knew was i was naked and purple. it only contributed to my frenzy.) so i did what anyone in my position would do.
got down on all fours, turned off the shower, cranked the faucet, tucked my head under the water and prayed to GAWD my face wasn't purple.
it wurnt purty.
the rest of the shower went relatively smoothly.. considering. but it took a good 30 minutes to get my hair to rinse clear. by that time the water was cold, i was sick of rinsing off purple and i'd had enough.
i got out, dried off and made a mental note to never do that again.
oy.
but in the end.... i'm happy with the results. even if i am the only one that can see the difference!

my "before" picture. i'd just finished an hour spin session with 0% guy and the KCM crew. my hair doesn't normally look that bad.
don't judge me!
the bathroom.... before

me. during. before i realized emptying the bottle on my head
was not a good idea.

the bathroom... after. and finally....

me. after a rather long hair dyeing session.
(whew.. i'm kinda glad that's done!)

I somehow knew there would be drama, but in the end, you look wonderful.
And it was a good read too. I'ts all about the reader.

That looks great!
I get dye all over the place very time I dye my hair. It is ridiculous.
You did remember to put the finisher stuff on, right? The dye kit usually comes with some cream rinse stuff and you need to use that.

We would not have believed you if you had said after the fact that everything went smoothly. You just have a hilarious way of getting yourself into these sorts of messes.
I can tell the difference in color and it looks great! After all of that commotion you still managed to end up doing a very nice dye job.

looks rad! Also, I have left purple hair dye smudges in the bathroom of every apartment I've ever lived in, I think.
I notice you used Feria...yeah, that stuff is dangerous like that!

Looks great. But to tell you the truth, I really can't tell that much of a difference

Your hair looks good. Dye disasters are familiar to me. I hope you got the stuff washed off.

Lucy, you got some ‘plaining to do. Isn’t your hair suppose to be red?

Somehow I could see this coming after yesterday's set up. :)

this is too funny...and why I leave it to the pros to color my hair. Thanks for the major laughfest over here.

GAAHH! I'm having purple stained face home-hair dye flashbacks!(The purple dye all over our sexy rust-orange bathtub was faaaabulous.)
However bad my own dye jobs were... you look gorgeous. The color totally works for you.

Thanks for in a weird, funny way making me feel like I was right there the entire time....btw, hair looks great!

I need to look back and see if I didn't leave an "I told you so" kind of statement. I guess that's one good thing about being a male with MPB. Not enough hair to worry about dyeing.
BTW, no male would ever have gotten so far as reading that you shouldn't get the stuff in your face and/or rub it into your skin.

Looks great!!! I like it!
Wish you could have video-d it! Without the x-rated parts of course!

aw, youre so purty despite all the "afraid of turning into barney" stressed... one time i tried to dye my hair, i actually got the "bleach" kind and wound up looking like a skunk. no way blondes should EVER EVER dye their hair themselves.

Was this your first time? I used an ash toner once, and accidentally dyed my hair a brown color with a bit of green to it...
