join the RA crew! (and other exciting adventures...)
Ironman Wisconsin is many moons away, but planning for the event has already begun.
ever so recently... as in....today....
*ahem*
Iron Pol and i were appointed appointed ourselves executive and vice-executive-type-person... peoples.... in charge of support.
and we need your help!!
in the next few months the Pol and i will be putting together details for the weekend, including but not limited to, who plans on attending (in a racing and/or support capacity), a list of roles for the support crew (video/picture crews documenting the race, course volunteers, will-run-with-various-team-members-when-the-going-gets-tough moral supporters... you get the idea) and a smorgasbord of "meet and greet" type events and activities.
if you will be in Madison, either as a participant or support crew, please let the pol or i know via e-mail so we can compile a list of those interested in planning and can get this ball rolling.
and if you have any awesome ideas that you want to share or things you'd like for us to try and do, don't hesitate to speak up.. this is the team raceAthlete support crew, and everyone's invited!
-----------
in other VERY EXCITING news... i have just crocheted MY VERY FIRST HAT!!! this has been at least a week long work-in-progress, but, as my roommate can attest
I AM ON CLOUD NINE WITH MY AMAZING ACHIEVEMENT!!! i may or may not have run about the house yelling at top voice about my magical powers and hat making abilities.
*ahem*
anyway. after crocheting a scarf this weekend, unraveling said scarf tonight, having my mom walk me through the basic crochet-in-a-circle basics over the phone... I HAVE A HAT! MY VERY OWN HAT!
THAT I MADE! WITH MY OWN HANDS! ALL BY MYSELF!!! don't believe me?! here's the proof :)
anyway. i got excited. (no. like REALLY excited....)
so i wanted to share.
i am some kinda freakin' awesome people. i could open a hat and scarf store!!!
THE WORLD IS MY OYSTER!
i. rule.
oh, man... i love when i rule!

oh wow - that's good! I remember when I learned to knit, because I got pregnant about a week after I started the class.
Ah yes, the pre-kiddo days. You've brought me some fond memories...thanks!

yeah, knitting/crocheting rocks. you'll never be bored again... :)
i'm definitely in on the support-the-team thing. i'm going to try to make it there, but if not...then i'll do whatever i can do from afar...

Ummm!
I didn't see any crochet stick thingies. Needles? Whatever.
How do we know you crocheted that hat when we don't have at least the tools of the trade displayed for all to see. In use would be better.
I remember when I learned to crochet from my mom. I was really good at making really long strings. Apparently, you're supposed to put things together and make stuff. Who knew?

I think Pirate just said that you can get pregnant by knitting!?!?!?!? Who knew?

I think I have a new favorite quote:
"oh man... i love when i rule"
That was great, and made me laugh out loud, literally.
Congrats on the hat! Great pic.

Big Bag would like perfect with a NICE NEW HAT to go with it. So is it safe to say I could put this on my Valentine's Day list? (since you'll be out here and all...and pretty much the only possiblity I have to making ANY plans near that date.)

I think a trip to Madison might be fun...I've always wanted to watch an Ironman event...I'm hoping this year it will work out for my to volunteer at the big Tri in the Twin Cities area this year...I've been trying to do it for the last few years...would give me some practice!!

That hat is fierce! I heart it! I wish I had some skillz.
I will TOTALLY BE IN MADISON next year! Count me in for all kinds of ridiculous support. I'll tap dance if I need to. Well, maybe not. But I might.

I remember trying to learn how to crochet. I loved making really long string things but never got anywhere with it. I did however learn to sew my own skirt! I love it!!! Now if I could only sew a top for it. :/
Put me on the list too for IM Moo. I'll figure out how to get there later. :D

Thinking cow thoughts for you.

Welcome to the Crochet Club! Looks great. I've been working on a blanket... It's taking FOREVER.

Two things...
1) Great hat! I remember how beyond excited I was when I finally finished crocheting my first afghan.
2) I had actually been kinda thinking I'd do some sort of IMWI volunteer logistics thing since I was there this year and had desperately wished there was someone doing it. So if y'all are taking care of it - GREAT! one less thing I need to think about. If you need a hand with stuff I'd be glad to help.
I'm going to be there as a volunteer (arriving Friday, leaving Monday). Wylee is planning on it, as is TriSaraTops. I've already promised to post when volunteer registration opens and several of us are already thinking about which workstations to coordinate together.
The biggest thing I would request is that we work out a Saturday night dinner together for the bloggy volunteers who know each other - the athletes all have their own thing going that night and for lots of volunteers it was fast food in the hotel room alone. I was at the Friday night Simply Stu dinner with all the athletes and it was great! I hope something similar works out again next year.
