nnn-guh.

why. didn't someone tell me. buying a house. was such a pain in the ass.

*sigh*

i'm losing my mind here folks. i'm LOSING my MIND.

last night, trying to decide what to eat, i went into a panic attack deciding between pork and beef. we're talking a simple meal here folks...

and it had me FLOORED!!!

committment-phobia, paired with being-poor-phobia, coupled with being-single-phobia (which yes. i do see the irony there.. committment-phobia. being-single-phobia. that paradox is not lost on me)

sort of made for a bad night.

why am i even doing this? since when do i buy a house? hell, man.. i don't even have a MATE.
and that's like one of the things that you need!!!

a mate. and some money. and a good marathon time....S-H-I-T!!!

yeah.
i have no neurosis.

REALLY!

anyway that being said... my shit's a little crazy right now. i've gotta be outta my apartment by aug. 31st.. i need to find a place to stay by sept. 1st, and i just changed counties..

oh yeah thats right COUNTIES, for my house-hunt.

i'm. a mess.

so if i've been giving bad blog.. (which i have) or if i give bad blog in the future (which i will).. i apologize in advance.

feel free to step away from my site, and move along in a different direction.

and don't worry about me, folks.

i'm just quietly losing my mind.

everything's fine.

Since I dislike doing house maintenance, I have shied away from owning a house, but my roommate bought hers when she was 23 and has been living happily ever after! Go for it! You don't need a mate to own a house!

But I can still why you are a big ball of panic...

Hey are doing the Jackson County Tri this weekend? If you are look me up, I will be the man wearing a bro when I get out of the water...shit.

I remember buying my house a few years back. It is scary when you're going at it alone. If you need any advice or someone to just listen to your random questions let me know.

Bold bought the HABC. No mate required!

good luck.

Hey, good for you for buying a place! No reason you should wait for anyone but yourself to do it. Good luck!

Yup, I bought my place on my own too, and I inhabit every corner. I hope whenever that mate finally decides to show they don't come with any gear cuz there's no room. I just about wanted to pass out when I signed the mortgage papers, but I love my place. Good luck!

Hey,

We've never met, but I've got a friend (woman) who owns a house and is looking for a roommate. She runs and mtbs, and is overall a good person. So if you want some more info, contact me, we could meet over coffee or for a group run. If you're interested, feel free to check with the Trail Nerds about me, some of them know Nikki as well. Good Luck!

BTW, thanks for sharing your neurosis with the rest of us! We're just too afraid to admit we are the same as you...

Paul

You're buying at the right time, I'll tell you that, it's a buyers market. You'll be happy in a few years when you meet your mate and you can sell the house for profit to put toward the house you both choose. I wish I would have bought at your age.

Hey, selling a house is no picnic either. Good luck to both of us.

Neuroses make for good blog posts so don't worry about "us" the readers - we'll still be hanging in by the time all the house hunting mess is over.

Maybe you don't want to hear this right now, so feel free to tune out but: Its going to be fine!! Both times I've bought houses I've thought, OMG, this is huge, I'm stuck this is the END and both times it was totally fine. No worries. Trust yourself. Your a smart person.

Owning your own place is great. It's scary, yes, particularly closing and signing your name so many times, but when you live there and you can do whatever you want, paint a wall, knock out a wall, etc...it's just fantastic. Sure you might be broke for a bit too, but the house gains in value and you get to take great deductions on your taxes for it! and I'm a single woman and have owned, without a mate, for 6 years! It's great!

Just wait 'till you get to decide between paying points up front to get a lower interest rate on the mortgage or not paying points so that you don't have to spend as much up front... Good times were had by all when I had to do that.

Um, if you think buying a house is bad, just wait until you have to SELL one! Eeesh.

Please just make sure you don't have to remodel whatever you get. If you've found a "fixer-upper" and need to be talked out of it, just email me. :)
