chik chik BANG!

balance[1].jpg

omg so i totally got to shoot guns yesterday!

like for real, bang bang, chik-chik, pull the trigger guns!!!

(actually there was only one gun small enough for me. but i shot it a LOT!)

and okay listen, i know what you're all thinking...the last thing this world needs is ME with a rifle.

but, i was highly supervised, wearing the proper safety devices and at an acutal shooting range so it was totally legit.

and besides that, turns out... I'M A TOTAL STUD!

oh my gosh. i cannot even explain to you how much fun this was. and how much even MORE fun it was when i
didn't miss!

here are some things that i learned:

1.) guns are loud. if you're going to be readjusting your headphone things... make sure its not while someone next to you is shooting.

that was dumb.

2.) when boys say "there's practically no recoil with this".. they lie. as my "balance" pic above will illustrate, i was quite shocked at how the thing wanted to throw me back.

3.) positioning is everying. i heard horror stories of peeps that had the butt of their gun in the wrong place and they walked around with a gimp arm for weeks. fortunately as previously explained, in no uncertain terms, i'm a stud.

therefore i was unaffected by this.

4.) you really do get to yell "PULL" when you shoot.

5.) there is not a man in the skeet box that hears you yell and sends them flying. instead there's a little remote with three buttons... HIGH, LOW, DOUBLE, and a trusty friend pushes whatever button when you yell pull.

not surprisingly i got just as much enjoyment out of hitting the buttons as i did shooting the guns.

you might say i'm easily amused.

5.) the absolute 100% most fun without a doubt part of the entire adventure is charging the gun. omg. i giggled like a school girl.

every time.

chikchik[1].jpg

6.) when smoke comes out the middle of the gun, its best not to cause alarm that "omg i broke it".

turns out thats totally fine.

7.) when shooting twice in a row, its important to remember to actually go ahead and DO that really fun "pumping" part. the gun will not work otherwise. and if you forget to do this more than once, you're a dunce.

9.) i'm a dunce.

10.) it helps immeasurably to keep your eyes open when pulling the trigger. you would assume this to be obvious, but trust me... its not.

and.. number eleven.) don't go shooting if you don't want a gun, because i never thought i would before and now...

now i totally do!

oh my gawd, you are too funny! i would have no clue what to do with a gun in my hand!!!! i keep a golf putter in my apartment in case of intruders. right, cause that's real scary!

i'm gonna sleep better now:

a) knowing you know how to shoot a shotgun
b) knowing you now want a shotgun
c) knowing you live a few states away...

pix = happened!

Glad you had fun safely.

Load...point...PULL!!! It doesn't get much better.

That's quite a picture of you priming that pump. When I was at State Patrol Academy a long time ago, we had a skeet shooting session for training. I was terrible at it b/c I grew up in NYC where we didn't shoot (at least, I didn't run with the zip gun crowd, I was a suburbanite on rural Staten Island). Flash forward to the Academy, I missed every time I yelled Pull. Nothing happened, I shot, the gun bucked and the clay pigeons sailed on serenly into heaven just before they crashed and broke. So after 50 misses I slunk up to the mess hall to have lunch. 38 other recruits knew of my shame. (I hadn't figured out "leading" with the shotgun yet). In the mess hall, a busboy happened to dropp a full bustray filled with dishes which crashed loudly. The chief class wag said, Peter finally hit the target! He brought the mess hall down to its knees with laughter (at the thought of the unlikely event). Loved your tale of shooting (although I don't approve of laymen shooting).

cool!
so...when are you going to the pistol range?...

I totally FLEW backward when I had to learn to shoot rifles. Someone had to put them hand on me so I did not hurt myself from the recoil. Men do lie about that part...badly!

Sweet pics!

That is most excellent. I'll admit, I went skeet shooting once and I loved it!!

You with a gun - totally hot.

Again, you crack me up. But then, you bring your own fun, whatever you happen to be doing. That's the AJ way.

I'm a little envious of your adventure. It's good see you had your muffs on. remember, you can put ear plugs in under the muffs too. Better safe than sorry.

Awesome! I've been shooting since I was 6 (redneck family, Grandpa's a gun dealer) and I always have a blast. Great to see more women learning it's possible that guns can be safe and fun!
