CYCLOCROSS NATIONALS
for those of you that don't know anything about cyclocross... the above picture should give you a general idea of what the sport consists of.
plainly speaking, cyclocross is a form of bicycle racing. Races take place typically in the autumn and winter (the international or "World Cup" season is September-January), and consists of many laps of a short (2.5–3.5 km or 1.5–2 mile) course featuring pavement, wooded trails, grass, steep hills and obstacles requiring the rider to quickly dismount, carry the bike whilst navigating the obstruction and remount in one motion. Races for senior categories are generally between 30 minutes and an hour long, with the distance varying depending on the ground conditions.
basically... its an obstacle course on bikes that kicks ass. i mean.. thats the only way to describe it.
and... cyclocross nationals just happen to be... THIS weekend.. IN kansas city!
yeah that's right.. kansas city. the SAME kansas city that just got hit with an ice storm and is allegedly receiving 3-6 inches of snow this weekend.
did i mention cyclocross is hardcore?! umm. yeah.
so, for those of you looking for something to do this weekend come out and join, it's sure to be an amazing race. all i can say is...
better them than me!

I just learned about cyclocross this year b/c I met a chic that does it and it sounds CRAZY. I've never seen it though. If I was, ya know, not in Boston I would sooo go see this. Report back!!

I found out about this when my sister informed me that she was now involved with it. A quick look at the internets and I was, like, oookayy. I'm pretty sure she's nuts.

Hey, I was wondering if you were going to go. Here's the good news... I'm pretty sure nationals are in KC again next year... That gives you 12 months to prepare!
