first race of the season
well folks, race season is officially upon us.
(or... me anyway. i might be a bit behind the curve.)...
tomorrow is the April Adventure Duathlon in Garnett, KS. and i actually can't wait!
this time last year, things were so different. the wednesday before last year's race when 0% told me about it... i cried.
i freaked out, didn't think i could do it, cried out of fear and declared BUT I'M NOT READY!! (and then it got rained out, so i high fived the weather gods.)
looking back on it now, it's hysterical, and i can't believe i reacted in such a way.
but at the time i really didn't find it funny. i felt over-whelmed. the idea of running AND biking scared the socks off me and i was pretty sure i was going to die. run off the road and into a tree or something.. i'm not really sure.
seems completely illogical at this point, but WOW was i not into it.
fortunately, the only pre-race emotion i'm having right now is excitement. i'm looking forward to it and am relishing how much i've grown since that OMG I CANT DO IT day.
so tomorrow, at 9am, its the April Adventure Duathlon, and my only declaration today is...
I'LL BE THERE!

Good luck AJ. I followed you when you ran (you were and are hilarious) and I wish you well on the dark side. How did they cancel that gig last year b/c of rain? Was it lightning? Yea for them then.
