Noooooooooooo
I'm sick! I'm tapering, my race is in a week, and I'm sick!
I have a cold. The sore throat started yesterday, and continued through last night. I couldn't sleep. My ears are plugged and my throat and head hurt really bad.
I don't know what to do. Do I still run my taper schedule? Will running make the cold last longer? I don't want to be sick on race day. If I don't run, and I recover in time, will the lack of running hurt me on race day?
HELP!
How do I handle this???!!!???!!!???

same thing happened to me- the week before Sunmart- I was on antibiotics up until the day of the race. Just take care of your body now- At this point, what you do in the next week should not make a differece(my coach told me this)- you can't lose anything. I barely did anything the week before the race- maybe ran one time...perhaps our bodies do this to make us rest before the big event...?

jennifer gave you good advice. You can never run too little during the taper. take care of your body, that's what's important now...

Don't run. Take care of yourself. I was on antibiotics (and still a little sick) for my last 100-miler, and it only slowed me down a little. Take care of yourself! Get a room vaporizer, and use it every night while you sleep; it will help break up congestion, etc. Take vitamin C at regular intervals throughout the day. Drink plenty of water/fluids...more than usual. Get lots of rest: stay seated as much as you can during the day, and get to bed early, (even if you can't sleep). We RBFers are sending healing thoughts your way!

I'm with everyone here...DON'T RUN! Believe me, speaking from experience prior to pf change I came down with the bug just like you're describing and I continued to run here and there. It only got worst! You don't want to run a race with a bug, not worth it. Let the antibiotics fight it along with some help from rest. Lots of liquid, sleep, vit C, and more of it will help.

Don't run! Rest, rest, rest. Don't move, eat hot soup, take antibiotics, and sleep. You'll be back, you have a week. Nothing stupid!

I was starting to worry about you. Unlike me, you post regularly so I was wondering where you went. Feel better. Take care of yourself first and foremost. If your doc won't give you antibiotics try taking your doses of Airborne & Zicam can't hurt either. I swear by them. We've all got some bug here and I'm loading up on the homeopathic remedies...but I don't have a race in week. Get better!!!!
