First Day of School
Today was Ash's first day of preschool. He'll be attending twice a week, for four hours a day. My baby is starting to grow up! Last night, I just wanted to gather him in my arms, and cuddle, cuddle, cuddle. I cried myself to sleep. I'm so scared. What if he meets bad kids, bullies or bad adults? I know I have to accept that he will meet bad people, and then teach him how to deal with them - how to stand up for himself, how to stay strong, how to keep himself safe. Don't get me wrong - the preschool we chose is one I felt the most comfortable with. But still! He's always been watched by family. I'm not ready to let him go!
Oh, man, I'm going to be one of those mothers-in-law, aren't I. *sigh* (mothers-in-partnership? how do you say it if your child and their life partner aren't married? I don't want to pressure Ash to get married.)
I ran yesterday at lunch. It hurt. Not my leg, though, which is good. I got a major side stitch that I couldn't get rid of. Paki and I shortened the loop to 2.25 instead of 3.25. *sigh* I'll trade with you, Rae! Ok, maybe not :)
I'm tired. I've been staying up too late watching the Olympics and reading. And crying. *sigh* At least Mercury is sextile with Venus tonight, which is supposed to bring emotional happiness and calm. I could use that right now.

Please send the address so I can drop off my girls there too. Oh, it's probably in Tucson, eh? Oh well.... Seriously, congratulations, Mom! You've graduated to having some time to yourself again!! But I know it's bittersweet. :-)

Planets? Check out Stellarium - a planetarium in your PC.Pre-school is nothing. Wait until the state sends a big yellow vehicle to your house to carry him away. Killed me.

Angie, He'll do great. A good preschool will help him learn to speak up for himself, to negotiate with others, to learn to take turns and share. Hopefully, they will focus on the development of the whole child - physical, intellectual, emotional and social. Also, you should be allowed to drop in anytime, unexpectedly, to observe. Parents should never be considered a distraction, but rather, a vital part of the team. Ash will love it, and eventually, you will too.

It's hard letting your children loose. My granddaughter just started preschool last September, I think my daughter didn't sleep much the first week. But now she is alright with it, the preschool seems to have a pretty good bunch of kids and my granddaughter is the biggest in the class so they don't mess with her ;-)

Isn't it usually the kids who are crying? Don't worry, he'll love it, and you'll soon enjoy the free time.

Ash will do just fine, but we need to hear details! I don't think I'll be good in-law either:) What about college?? It's a scary world out there...but we can't keep them in diapers forever.

Well? How did Ash do on day one? Check out the quote in the middle of my post from last Friday - I think it applies here!
