No-Running Experiment Results

Okay, that’s it! I’m done with my “no-running” experiment. I decided this week because I’m still fatigued from S&S and also from my gallbladder, I was going to take it easy and not run (unless Ash happened to wake me up on time and I felt like going).

Well, that was a load of bull.

I still feel just as cranky and just as tired as I do when I wake up early to run. The bad part? My body hurts EVEN MORE!!! A crick in my neck, my knees feel stiff and sore and my head, oh my aching head… Not to mention the disappointment scrawled across Paki’s face as I walk into work having missed our morning run together.

Of course, my gallbladder is still aching, and the gas is getting much worse. I’m down to eating about 150 calories about every hour or two, to keep the pain at a minimum. I can’t *wait* for the doctor’s appointment. (Thank you Michelle for the info on the surgery!) On a good note, I’ve discovered Weetabix. Yummy in my tummy!

So here’s the new plan: Wake up with Ash each day except Saturday (sleep-in day). Go running with Paki twice a week. That gives Johnny four sleep-in days a week, which should help him feel more refreshed and recovered. I’ll feel better because I’ll be on a regular schedule of getting up in the morning (which I really do prefer; I’ve always been an early bird rather than a night owl).

I think we’ll be heading up Mt. Lemmon tomorrow to go for a family hike – something we haven’t done in ages! I’m looking forward to it.

Remember to take it easy and just enjoy, especially with those gas attacks. After that stellar performance at Sugar & Spice, you need to be good to your body and not let your brain talk you out of displaying common sense. Trust me on this one.

Oh Angie, you are sounding just like I was before surgery. I did that whole "eat a little every hour" thing too. However I didn't discover Weetabix - what is that?

Running or not running didn't really make a difference for me in fatigue or pain, but running certainly helped me out mentally. I'm glad you are not giving up - just go easy, easy, easy on it. Cut yourself some slack if your distances and times drop a little. You'll feel so much better after it is out that those will pick right back up.

I hope they get you in soon!

Have fun at your hike- sounds nice! Hopefully you'll post pictures!?

That's rough. Sounds like your new schedule will help to keep you sane as you heal.

Sending warm thoughts your way...

Why is it when I think of Weetabix I do not have the same Yummy in my Tummy reaction? Actually I don't even know what Weetabix is, but it sounds healthy. I hope you get out to do some hiking and maybe even out for a run.

Not running always makes me feel worse. I didn't run at all this past week and by the end of our time at the beach hubby was yelling (not really) at me to go run.

I get cranky when I don't run. I hope you can get things set for your surgery soon!

Angie, I am feeling for you...hang in there. I have my own stomach issues and they are NOT fun. Enjoy the family hike--maybe it will take your mind off things.

I hope you find the solution with surgery. It would be so great to live without pain! Hang on, Ang!

Thanks for posting!!! I really hope you had a great hike!!!

Sorry Angie, doesn't sound like fun at all. Hope the best with the DR appt.

Hope your plan works out.
