Recovery
I took my first recovery run this morning; it went well. Paki and I met early this morning, and ran about 1.5 miles, then walked the remaining .75 after my right hamstring got tight. Overall, it was good.
My recovery hasn't been very "good." It's consisted of hardly any sleep, long car and airplane rides, one looong walk around Newport/Cincinnati on Monday, drinking hardly any water, no stretching and no antioxidants until Tuesday (oops). I'm trying to correct this: I stretched last night, I ran/walked this morning, I stretched this morning, I've been trying to down at least 64 oz of water daily, and I've been taking my antioxidants each night since Tuesday night. I'm not getting much sleep still, but hopefully we'll get back into the swing of things over the next couple of days. Of course, PMSing doesn't help things :(
Check out dirty girl gaiters - since she donated the gaitors to S&S, she asked to put one of the pictures I took on her Web site, too cool!
I'm beginning to look to the future - how do I want to train this next cycle? I know I need some strength training...

Angie, I saw those dirty girl gaiters last year at CCC and thought they were pretty cool. I need them for the track we run on - it needs resurfacing and I always end up with little bits of it in my shoes!
Keep working that recovery and dream big. How about a Washington race?

Xy rocks in her support - and the wild colors of her gaitors:)
The recovery will get easier as you continue your ultrarunning!

Makes me wonder. What IS a good recovery routine? Other than walking and an ice or epsom bath I don't do much else. Never though about anti-oxidants.
I'm sure whatever it is... driving back 7-8 from San Fransisco the next day is probably not a part of it!

I've found that hydration is the most important element to recovery for me. I realized I forgot to drink anything on Monday during our 5 hr drive home. Oops.
Looking forward to hearing about your next training cycle. I need to work on strength training too.

Get some rest, drink up, and don't stress about antioxidants - if you're eating your fruits and veggies, you should be fine.
I *heart* those gaitors - I think I might have to take up trail running just so I can justify buying a pair!

Glad to hear you're recovering somewhat...

Keep recovering Angie and don't worry I won't let Michelle wear the dirty girl gaitors on the track. I will make her run on trails if she is going to wear them.

Ang, I hope you are feeling 100% again soon.

Angie,
Sounds like you have things under control now. Sleep is very important!
And I'm with you on the strength training. It is the only thing that has kept me sane through all these months of injuries. I say... once you're recovered, go hit that gym!
