Shake your hips!
Ash dancing in his new clothes
(It looks like it's not there, but if you click the space where it should be (where the red x is), you'll get the video.) I took the video with the camera in the vertical position, but it uploaded in horizontal, so Ash appears a little squished. But you'll get the (cute) point :)
Still haven't taken my walk this weekend, and I'm cranky. Don't know if the two are related...
I think you all had a great idea. On August 12, I'll put up a "potluck post" and you all can "bring" virtual foodstuff to my party! Even better if you actually make what you "bring" and enjoy it with your family. It'll be a virtual party to welcome back my freedom of choice in foods. Say hello to variety!
I'm starting to sketch out my training plan for OP50. Taking a look at the group's trail running schedule, and starting to fit in the rest of my training from there. I'm getting excited about it. I'm ready to start thinking about running again. I need something to put my focus on. Otherwise, Ash and Johnny are going to feel nagged to death!
Tomorrow marks the start of the Badwater Webcast! Follow those few hardy souls (including a Tucson ultrarunner from my trail running group) as they brave 120+ degree F temperatures to run 135 miles from Death Valley to Whitney Portal. Scott Jurek is going for sub-24 this year, unheard of! (Olga just reminded me that Lisa Smith-Batchen is going for the double this year, whew!)
I'm also starting to think about a dream race. Julie Berg (Who, btw, is my hero. When she started running ultras, she finished dead last, like I did. But she's trained hard, and just signed a contract to be sponsored by Inov-8! That's my dream, to train well enough to be sponsored. She shows it can be done :) ) Anyway, she wrote a great article in this month's UltraRunning magazine about the Superior 50k, and her first sentence asked if you have a place where you just "love to run." I realized that I didn't have a favorite place to run. Johnny and I discussed this at length yesterday afternoon, and I realized that my favorite place to run is any trail I haven't been on yet. I wondered why I could go to Starbucks and repeatedly savor a maple oat nut scone, but couldn't savor even one trail I've already seen? Then I realized I do have one trail I adore, and that's the trail to and above Seven Falls in Bear Canyon. But then I started thinking about races... Right now, I've been choosing races just because they are close by. If I had a chance to run any kind of race, anywhere, what race would be just spectacular to run? I'm not sure. I want a dream race, though.
What's your favorite place to run? What's your dream race?
Comments
It's hard to say my favorite place to run, since there are so many trails around here I've yet to run. But I guess it would be Wildwood in Forest Park.
And right now I'm so focused on my upcoming 50K (www.pctultra.com)...I guess that's my dream race!
Ash is a cutie!

That video was so cute!!
I too have the dream of training well enough to be sponsored some day. A goal to strive for :)
I don't know if I have a "favorite" place to run. There are so many good ones around here so that's hard to say. My dream race though is WS. Some day maybe.
By the way - Julie's article about the Superior 50K - did you know that is on the same trail that "WE" are going to run when we run 135 miles in 5 days? :)

My fav is WS100 trails:) Good dream to have too.
I'll be watching Badwater for sure! Lisa is doing double, Scott going for record, and so many friends are making their way...wow! Now I feel bad complaining about the temps!

My favorite place is in Hawaii. There was a road that led out of the base and ran along the beach and ended at Lanikai Beach, which happens to be on the top 10 most beautiful beaches in the U.S.

Favorite place to run is the first half of the White River 50, which is about 45 minutes from my house.
Dream Run is Badwater, which I will run.

I am so excited about Badwater this year. Two possibilities for two amazing records.
And definitely go for the sponsorship dream (like anyone could stop you)! It's amazing what all of us can accomplish.
My favorite run... I love the Croton Aqueduct Trail and Van Cortlandt Park. My dream race? I haven't give it too much thought. I'm thinking the Long Island Greenbelt 50K for right now.

I love running on the Buckeye Trail in Cuyahoga National Park. I am also very fond of the bridle trail at North Chagrin Reservation when I can get over there.

Angie, that video is too cute! What a sweetheart.
Favorite place? Lake Padden in Bellingham? Or maybe, Pt. Defiance? Or on the beach at Rob's ocean house? Hmmmm....
Dream race? Right now, it's Portland. Later, who knows?

Did you teach Ash those hip shaking moves?? Too cute.

Angie ... the Ash video was real cute. Thanks for sharing.
Also, I got a chance to walk through the lower part of the Bear Canyon trail in Sabino Canyon yesterday. Absolutely beatiful. Someday I'll make it all the way up. Great suggestions.

Great post! I think your dream of being sponsored is fabulous! Go for it, girl!
A dream race for me...? At this point? Any one I could actually participate in.

Wow he can really shake it!
Hands down, my favorite run/race is the NYC marathon course. Oh the diverse humanity!
Looking forward to the BlogLuck party. Methinks something with garlic is in order...

My favorite running trail is Mohican State Park in Ohio-lush pine needles, twisty tree roots in sections, steep uphills and downhills, ferns, deer, trees, well maintained trails, waterfalls-truly beautiful!
Dream Race-I don't know. I would love to come out west and have some of your beautiful scenery.

lol. waaay cute video.
I think my favorites change all the time. This year, my favorite run has been in Carmel Valley, CA. at Garland Ranch Regional Park.
Dream race? WS100. Of course! But I have also heard of Marathon du Medoc in France that serves wine, oysters, and pate at the aid stations. Often joked about as the "longest marathon in the world" since the runners get a bit...distracted. Sounds like a blast. I would love to go.

Hmm... I don't know if I have a favorite running trail. I do enjoy doing Mt. Pete (or Peak, but I hike up it and love to run down it.
As for a Dream race - it used to be going to Kona. But now that I realize how much work it really takes to qualify, I have decided to look down a different path. That being said, I would like to do the White River 50. I don't know if I really want to run any longer than that :)

I think Ashe is creating a new form of wiggle martial arts.
I realy don't have a favorite place to run - but favorite time of year is DEFINITELY WINTER!
