2.25
2.25 miles isn't much to an ultrarunner, but this morning, it was 30 minutes of (slow-like-honey) bliss. I was able to jog the whole time, without side stitches or ab pain. My intention was to go through my early-morning run routine, even if I just walked for 20 minutes. I was up at 5:30, and took my time prepping.
I ran next to a still-flowing Rillito (Ree-ee-toe) River, and had to avoid debris strewn across parts of the river path (debris included tree parts, soda bottles, torn-up pinecones and styrofoam pieces). Much of the path was covered in a fine muddy silt, from when the river overflowed it's banks. The first part of my run kept me closer to the water, and I observed what appeared to be numerous boulders on the non-flowing part of the river. The second part of my run was on the side of the river with all those rocks, and upon closer inspection, they were not so much rocks or boulders as much as they were giant broken slabs of concrete. I wondered where the concrete came from, and if there were additional bridges destroyed besides just the one over Rattlesnake Canyon. The humid air kept my legs moist and dripping as I stretched out afterwards. It was just a gorgeous morning to be out running.

Yay Angie! A pain free run - how cool is that? I like the idea of going through the normal running routine as part of getting back into it. It makes sense.
It'll be interesting to hear what you find out about that concrete. I hope your bridges are okay.

Glad things are drying out there, even if the rains dredged up all kinds of debris. Yipee for the return of that pink fuzzy feeling.
