onepinkfuzzy: The run we didn't take

Yesterday morning, I didn't meet Kiera at 6:30 for a run at the mostly closed Sabino Canyon. We didn't have to wait for Mike to show up; he wasn't late. While it was a fantastically beautiful morning, we did not enjoy it by running some trails. We didn't take off down the trail head on the east side of the parking lot, and we didn't run back to Phoneline Trail to find the first slide. We didin't get our feet soaking wet crossing the still-flowing creek, and we didn't hike up past the cut-off trail, and we didn't didn't find the first slide, and we didn't turn around early, and we didn't see ranger trucks down at the Rattlesnake washout far down below us. We didn't have an awesome conversation, we didn't run into two other people on the trail and a woman at the creek on her cell phone, and I didn't baptize my new cap in the waters of Sabino. We didn't have an awesome, hour-long run.

Nope.

We went to Starbucks, where I enjoyed an, um, iced grande non-fat mocha. And a maple oat nut scone. And we had a fantastic conversation about what a perfect run would be (see above).

(PS thank you to everyone for the outpouring of support and acceptance regarding my last post. It's a tough thing to bring into the open; I'm hoping bringing it into the light will chase away the shadows. I still have a long, hard road ahead of me to heal, and life will ebb and flow as it always does. I am grateful that I was able to melt some of the fear away, and I am so appreciative of the acceptance of this community. Thank you!)

I'm off to run the mountain.
