I run with a cold if the symptoms are from the neck up. However, the runs are always at an easy pace.
Why? 17 years ago I read in a book that running is a "natural antihistamine." It's one of those lines that's just never left my brain.

Run ... It is what I do. I only rest if I have an injury.

Anne commented yesterday to not run if it's below the neck. I have to agree, I have below the neck congestion, ran yesterday and am a MESS today, deep seated cough now and feel like crap. I say stay on the safe side and rest. rest. rest.

If it's not too much in the chest I say run. It helps clear you out. If it's too much in the chest - rest because it could make it worse. I always run with head colds and I think it helps even though it may not feel great at first.

Which ever one makes you happier.

Already said but worth repeating: Run if the cold's above the neck; rest if it's below.

What everyone else said! I've had a cold since last week and ran four out of the five days. It kind of zaps your energy, but I think it helps with the cold.

Jeff Galloway says don't run with a lung infection (lots of coughing). It can move to your heart and kill you.

It depends. I generally agree that if it's just in your head, you could still run, and would probably feel better for it. But if its to the point where you really feel achey or feel "out of it", then I think rest is best.

Snot rockets are best when you have a cold! Not only do you get to clear your head on a run you get to blow multiple rockets for entertainment. Since this is a non-scientific survey I won't go into the trajectory of the rockets.
Head cold yes, chest cold no.

Head cold yes, chest cold no, high fever no. Why, to appease my wife - left to myself I would probably run to my death.

If the symptoms are all above your head: run. Otherwise: rest.
Having said that, I had a cold with plenty of coughing last week, and it didn't bother me at all while out running.

DOH! I meant if the symptoms are above your NECK, not your head.

Head cold definitely...anything else not so much. I've been off a week now due to some kind of allergic reaction. Taking antihystemines, overheating cause hives :(

Run. Because you can. And you will feel better. But your cold may not:)

As long as there is no fever or cough I say run. But listen to your body if it screams at you to rest. Hope you feel better!

Run! Make sure you bring extra kleenex!! Your body will let you know when it can not take another step. I figure it's best to get out there and at least try to run..I always feel better once I begin..the running will clear it all out for a while!
