I don't think I can give up caffeine like I've been trying to for the last few weeks. I tried to stop because I didn't like the jitters I was getting, and the way I drank my coffee - with Torani Peppermint Syrup and half-and-half - wasn't exactly good for my waist. I had already stopped drinking a diet soda at lunch back in August (you know - taking baby steps). I decided to quit the morning coffee when my wisdom teeth were pulled.
Um, let's just say that wasn't exactly the best idea.
I think I need to halt the all-or-nothing approach, and just modify my caffeine intake instead. I tried having just a small cup this morning (one-third of a mug) with some no-calorie sweetener and no creamer. It was surprisingly good - and it gave me the right amount of caffeine to boost my system, help my head become more clear and take away the headache - all without the calories.
Yay!

Angie,
I'm usually the all-or-nothing kinda guy, but I recently modified my caffeine intake. I allow myself a cup in the morning (It's actually two cups worth) and then I also myself a mix of hot tea - whether herbal or actual tea in the afternoon. Occasionally, I'll have a can of diet soda, too. Seems to be leaving me feeling better and getting better sleep.... chances are those two things are related.
Best of luck with a more moderate approach.
Beware the buzz!! ;-)
Oh, I know the prob.
Caffeine... Not a day goes by without it.
Cutting back to the bare minimum is a way of keeping the clouds away while still being able to focus on what needs to be done.
I have cut back from a LOT of coffee per day to one cup of sludge (courtesy of my employer) and one cup of excellent Espresso - though Italians would probably not be too impressed with my Nespresso machine.
Coffee... Cannot live without it.
I might even consider the following tattoo:

Must...have....caffeine.
