I need any suggestions anyone might have for kitten-proofing an artificial Christmas tree. They did fine the first day, but the next, I was out of town. When I returned 12 hours later, the bottom half of the tree was shredded, and the ornaments were strewn throughout the house. They kept getting into it, and finally, at 2am, exhausted and pissed off, I picked up the tree and threw it in the bathroom and closed the door - it's the one room they absolutely can't get into. I don't really want to keep it in there, though :) Help!!
Here's what the tree looks like & it's location in my tiny apartment:

I think it's futile when they are kittens. You might as well just put up a barrier of some sort or plan to only adorn the top half of the tree. That's what we did when we had a puppy. Made for a great conversation piece, at least.
Oh sweet!!! I could really use those socks today! LOL
I wish I have suggestions on the tree...
Thanks Angie! Super cool of you.
Can't wait to try them.
I can't think of anything to protect the tree. Hopefully, they will get bored with it and move on to something else.
My cat is 9 years old and she still climbs the tree and knocks down ornaments. Think of it as their holiday merriment.
Have they eaten tinsel yet? It's quite festive when it's hanging out of their butts! (lol)
My cats are 13 and 14 and still think the tree is their own personal toy. Good luck with your kitten!
I remember having to kid proof the tree and not put glass ornaments near the bottom, butwe've never had cats let alone kittens. Good luck with that! Cool pictures from the Thanksgiving race.
I don't have cat advice but I will say it's probably better than dealing with a puppy who would not only knock it down and play with it, but destroy it to pieces!
I really don't know what to tell you about the cats and the tree. I'm really lucky that my cats prefer to sit under the tree and play with / mess up the tree skirt and don't try to climb the tree.
However, last year my tree fell over (breaking all my glass ornaments) and somehow I think my cats and dog were involved. I imagine a chase scene that had a bad ending.
