Now that my fantastically fulfilling Christmas has come and gone (thanks to my mother for watching Ash so I could sleep sleep sleep and sleep some more!), it's time to focus on the new year.
I'm not one for resolutions; however, this presents a great time for reflection and goal-setting.
2009 Big Goals:
- lose 15 pounds
- eat healthier (more fruits/veggies, less fats)
- tone abs, arms
- get better at soccer (specifically, dribbling the ball)
- get faster at running
Ways to obtain Big Goals:
- keep a food log
- purchase healthier foods
- develop (and utilize!) list of "substitution foods" (healthier foods I can reach for when I'm feeling a certain way or wanting a certain food)
- develop strength training plan, attend gym 2-3x/wk to implement
- continue playing soccer once/week, add one more practice per week (by myself? with friends? not sure...)
- average 15-20 mpw running (use Jan-Mar as basebuilding, develop plan for speedwork to be implemented starting in Apr)
- schedule all running, soccer, gym work on calendar and keep log
What are your goals for next year? Do you have any tips, tricks or suggestions for me to help me reach my goals?

Ash is looking so grown up! Have a wonderful 2009 Angie!
Those all sound like great goals for 2009. Have a Happy New Year!
Happy New Year, Angie! I'm not the best role model for healthy eating, so my advice would probably do more harm than good.
I've found success with a food log too. Makes you really consider not just what you eat -- but how much. It's all about portion control and keeping the junk food out of the house. Good luck, Angie!
Goals are a great way to make your dreams come true. Happy new year to you!
Looks like some great goals!! I am with you on the 15 pounds!
reach those goals with dogged persistence, consistency and boat loads of self confidence
Happy 2009!
Happy New Year Angie!
I'm trying to get faster too. My New Year's goal is a sub 20 minute 5k. I'm using a log and a training plan to get this done. I love running ultras but sheesh, they make me slow. And the training takes too much time away from family. Maybe I'll do it again later.
I'm also going to do the more fruit and veggie route too. I think that being strict with yourself and not allowing those "bad" foods in the house is the first step.
Happy New Year!!!
Your goals look great. Some similar to mine. The pictures are cute and Ash is just adorable.
I have pretty similar goals actually with the exception of getting better at soccer. I like that you added some ways to achieve your goals. Best of luck in 2009!
