Joining a band of Merry men
Last night I needed to go run and I went off to the gym so I could run on the fields there. Unfortunately a sports team were occupying said fields and as I don't know the area, I had to be content with running on a treadmill for the first time in literally years. I got on and chose a screen to look at while I was running for the next 52 minutes. Next to me was a great big window through which I could look and if I looked downwards, I could see people coming in and out of the gym. The minutes flew by and at the end of it all, I was properly sweaty and hot. I've forgotten how different running inside is to running outside.
In other unrelated news : Yesterday morning myself and Andy were anxiously awaiting a phonecall from a girl in Coleshill. We're VERY keen to buy a certain house which is about 3 miles away from my place of work. As Jeff pointed out - running distance! The reason why we were waiting for this particular phonecall was because it would be the one that tells us whether or not our mortgage application was approved. With my visa there are sometimes a few things that gives trouble. Luckily this wasn't one of them. Our mortgage was approved and we're moving towards Sherwood forest! We're looking at moving in the weekend before xmas. Not only am I looking forward to having our own house, but I'm also quite excited to find new routes to run and cycle :)

Finding a Pub
I'm sleepy. This morning at 8 I woke up to go run and in the end, I only got out the door at 9, but at least I did get out :)
Andy came along and we noticed that the area looks a lot different to the last time we went for a run here. Everywhere yellow and brown leaves make up a colourful portrait which at times makes you wonder whether you're not going to slip and slide across them instead of running. Fortunately we never fell down.
The course we took was a bit of a mix and match - I get so used to running the same courses over and over again that I sometimes forget that there are other routes that might take you to a new and exciting place (as exciting as the countryside can become). In today's case, it led us to a pub in Wilson - which we were quite thankful for. It meant that there was no cooking required at home.
We did of course finish our run first, got a shower and then went back to the pub, but it is one we weren't previously even aware existed. Now I know that they serve lovely cheesecake and will most probably go there a bit more often.
There is other more exciting news that I want to share, but in fear of jinxing the successful outcome of this particular piece of news, I'll not mention it just now. Hopefully I'll have more news on Monday :)

Finding New Muscles
A few nights ago I decided to ask one of the personal trainers at the gym to help me have a look at doing some form of strength training in the gym. She said she needed a day or two to do a bit of research so she could make sure that she did something that would be beneficial to me and my Ironman training.
So last night I arrived there, full of hope and not quite realising that I'd be aching by the end of the evening. Basically she gave me three choices and I thought that stage training seemed the most attractive. An hour later I hobbled out of the gym, feeling like I had just run a marathon and desperately looking for my bed. I got home, had supper and then passed out until this morning.
Now I'm finding new muscles that I hadn't used in a while. Sitting is fine, my arms are telling me that they are not be moved today or used to carry or pick up anything, my legs are refusing to be used and I discovered that I have abdominal muscles (very much on holiday for the past few years... nice to find out they are still there :) )
Tomorrow will be the true test though - I'm scheduled to cycle for 2.5 hours and I do believe that it might be a tad painful :)

Reading in Silence
I love going on holiday, but when I get back - especially after 3 weeks away - there are always a lot of blogs to catch up on. After spending half an hour reading some, I decided to check how many I still had to go... 1305!
So you'll excuse me if I'm quiet. But I have a lot of reading to catch up on :)
