Finding New Muscles

A few nights ago I decided to ask one of the personal trainers at the gym to help me have a look at doing some form of strength training in the gym. She said she needed a day or two to do a bit of research so she could make sure that she did something that would be beneficial to me and my Ironman training.

So last night I arrived there, full of hope and not quite realising that I'd be aching by the end of the evening. Basically she gave me three choices and I thought that stage training seemed the most attractive. An hour later I hobbled out of the gym, feeling like I had just run a marathon and desperately looking for my bed. I got home, had supper and then passed out until this morning.

Now I'm finding new muscles that I hadn't used in a while. Sitting is fine, my arms are telling me that they are not be moved today or used to carry or pick up anything, my legs are refusing to be used and I discovered that I have abdominal muscles (very much on holiday for the past few years... nice to find out they are still there :) )

Tomorrow will be the true test though - I'm scheduled to cycle for 2.5 hours and I do believe that it might be a tad painful :)

I've also just started doing strength training, haven't got round to blogging about it yet. Mainly just working the quads to prepare for the insane down hills in Comrades. The first few sessions are gonna be sore, but you'll get used to it. :)
