Gymnastics, Weight-training and other Torture Experiences

Last night I did some cross-training. I have had a lot of trouble motivating myself to go up in the shed and work with my free weights, so I decided to take a different approach. Here is an outline of my little torture session:

- 10 minutes of gymnastic stuff, e.g. pushups, situps, crunches, leg lifts, etc. - one after another.
- 20 minutes of light-weight weight training exercises trying to work most of the upper muscle groups.
- 5 minutes on exercise machine, e.g. rowing, leg presses (?), resistance stuff.
- 10 minutes of weight training with concentration on the legs, e.g. squats etc.
- 5 minutes on the stationary bike.
- 10 minutes of gymnastic stuff, e.g. pushups, situps, crunches, leg lifts, etc.

This seemingly harmless little workout kicked my butt, I thought I was in better shape with all the running I’ve been doing. I’m such a wimp. I have a lot of hard work ahead of me if I want to compete with Superman.

Have a great day!

Hee hee hee! It is humbling to do something apart from your regular workout, isn't it? Sounds very "cross-fit"-esque. :-)

Hub and I went to the gym this morning. I haven't been super excited about it lately, but maybe we can motivate each other.

This is what I plan on doing in December while I am not running. A lot of different exercises including free weights and swimming. I imagine it will kick my butt as well.

Yup, kicks butt, those things! I do it like once a month, but my husband is going put me trough torture chamber daily!!! And I can't pretend to myself I can't do something - it is not a word in his vocabulary:)

Kudos to you for getting out there and kicking butt...or getting your butt kicked! : )

I have zero, zilch, nada motivation to do that kind of stuff on my own. So I resort to strength training DVD's. Otherwise, I'd do a few curls and then be outta there! ; )

first session at new cross training event is always a killer. good stuff for imlproving the core

Dude take whey protein and workout as hard as you can. The key is motivation. dah
