Merry Christmas

Wishing you and yours a very relaxing, and healthful Holiday Season!
Our plans include traveling home to Canada and spending time with my brother and his family. Instead of lying on the couch with my feet up I really ought to have been wrapping gifts, shopping, baking, etc. But as you can see from the picture, we were were doing none of the above. We were reveling in the spirit of the holidays, and enjoying each other's company as well as our festive surroundings.
My husband and I don't often spend time sitting side by side. Most of the time we're rushing to or from work, or to and from the gym, or cooking or cleaning ... but rarely do we just sit and enjoy each other's company. I have to admit that it was WONDERFUL and I hope and pray that we have many more evenings like this.

Dearest Cindy,
I opened my gifts from you and from Ryan. It appears that his funds for my gift were generously supplemented. I was a bit surprised because of your little "we're still at Macys. Oops. I shouldn't have said that." comment. I am without words, so I'll just say THANKS. ~ Juls

You mentioned in your post back in January of 2007 that you got hives after painting the night before. My son has gotten hives twice in the last year, including last night. The allergists ruled out food allergies after many tests. Coincidently or not we were painting with Behr latex paints when he got them. Did you ever find out the cause of your hives? We were quite scared because the first time he actually got swollen joints also. Thank you.

Dave - I am sorry to hear about your son's hives. They are uncomfortable to say the least. Steroids was the only thing that prevented me from scratching my skin off. I am not an allergist, immunologist or dermatologist ... but my doctor (who happens to be a dermatologist) was 100% convinced it was the painting that did it. My immune system was hyper-sensitized at the time because of a recent poison oak exposure. The way he explained it to me it all made sense. Paint is toxic (even the non-lead variety) and our systems can only handle so much "insult" before it over-reacts, which is basically what hives are - an over-reactive, body wide, immune response. I hope he gets better soon. Maybe have him stay with relatives or friends next time you get the urge to paint something. I have to wear a mask, long sleeves, long pants, and gloves now when I paint.
