Murphy's Law of Running #68
Just when you get on track with your training and get uber-motivated....you get a massive chest cold that knocks you out for two days in bed. At least the kittens kept their sick mommy company!

I could spend FOREVER in the store I was at today (in fact I spent long enough to make me almost late to work after lunch!) It is a local outdoors store called The Backpacker not far from my house. I went to go check out there trail shoe selection (excellent!) and get some new shorts and a spare nalgene bottle! OOOOH! I could spend a fortune! I held back and only got what I needed but I so want a pair of trail shoes I saw (Salomon's recently reviewed in Trail Runner magazine!) I didn't even try them on because I knew I would buy them if I did and I really should wait until the next paycheck. Anyway, I will be back to that place. Can't wait to test drive my new shorts on the trail!
I think for my 5 miler scheduled for Thursday that I may head off to that new trail I found after work to do a little more exploring on that awesome single track. I can't wait! But I can't say I am exactly looking forward to my 6 mile TEMPO tomorrow though...ughh...I'll do it anyway, I promise.
In response to Hilda's question I have no idea if my blog can be followed on bloglines. It is only the amazing hip's tech savvy that got this blog going in the first place! I will check into that for you though...
Being very sick of Blogger constantly screwing up, losing entries and going down all the time (as well as making it a general pain in the but to add cool stuff to it) I have enlisted Jeff's help for setting up a new blog. Thanks Jeff!
For the first time in a couple of weeks, every mile I had planned was accomplished!
After a 6 mile TEMPO on Tuesday and a 5 mile recovery on Wedensday, I rounded out the week with a 5 mile hill workout and 14 mile trail run.
I felt GREAT during the 14 mile run (with the exception of some cramping in my left hamstring) but then, shortly afterward, I felt like CRAP. I felt nauseous and weak and ended up throwing up everything I tried to eat until 10pm that night. I was very well hydrated for the run and had my CamelBack of gatorade too so I don't know what the problem was. Nonetheless I feel fine today, albeit a little tired. I will press on for my last week of hard training before I begin to taper before the half on May 20th!
Today - REST
Tuesday - 4 mile easy
Wedensday - 6 mile TEMPO (8 miles total)
Thursday - 5 mile easy
Friday - REST
Saturday - 5 mile hills
Sunday - 14 mile trails (or 15 depending on how I feel)
I should be busy with this and the garden as it is totally overgrown and has to be thinned out. I have never had so many seeds sprout! (Watch, I go home tonight and they all died as I said that) For anybody interested...
Tomatoes, Green Beans, Sugar Snap Peas, Summer Squash (the yellow kind), Cucumbers, Radishes, Bell Peppers, Hot Peppers (to be planted), Mustard Greens, Basil, Cilantro, Rosemary, and Dill (All though the rosemarey and Dill are pretty pitiful at this point)
Hopefully this will keep me eating healthy all summer! Although we do have an ice cream truck that runs through the neighborhood...mmmmm.....chocolate....
