Haiku Thursday

I joined in on Bob's Haiku Thursday:

Went to running store
Got hand-held water bottle
Yay drinking on run

Here are the others I came up with while running:

Wanted some sport beans
Bought sharkies instead to try
Yum! Better flavor

Running after work
Equals hot weather and tired
Stupid training plan

Nice bike paths in town
No water fountains is weird
No bathrooms either

Did my 10 mile "general aerobic" run today out on the bike paths. It was kind of crappy ... you know how yesterday I was remarking on my lack of soreness? My legs felt kind of dead today. I think I need to start wearing my new shoes instead; my current pair feel kind of flat.

I almost mooned people at the start of my run. I stopped at the running store before running to buy a handheld water bottle and some sport beans. They didn't have sport beans, so I got sharkies instead. I had a few before running, and decided to tuck the rest of the package into my amphipod with my key. Well, the shorts I'd grabbed to wear are on the big side, and as I started running they started sliding down. I'd put the 'pod on the back of my shorts, so I tried moving it over to the side. That wasn't much better, as pretty much every 10 seconds I was having to hike up my shorts. I moved it over to the front, and that seemed to help some. Obviously I can't wear these shorts with the 'pod!

10 miles | 1:33:22 | 9:20/mi.

great job on getting the run in, despite the blah legs. I'm going to start breaking in my extra pair of shoes sitting in the closet too... i'm starting to get blisters and rubbing in weird places on my current pair.

I've been using the sports beans on my longer runs all through spring and I think i'm going to go back to carb-boom gels instead, and maybe use these as supplimental energy between gels. It probably sounds silly, but I really have a hard time eating all those jelly beans and running at the same time, not to mention the whole "getting them out of the bag while on the run" thing. they're great for some quick pre-run fuel though, because they taste so good (unlike gels)!

Great Haiku's and thanks for joining in. I have some funny ideas for future topics.
I have both a belt and a handheld....I am still adjusting to the hand held....I am just not sure if I like it or not. I must run with a bit more arm action then most because the sloshing annoys me.
Am I the only one that likes the taste of GU??

Well...aren't you just the little creative one! :-)

I don't think I like chewing while running, so I'll probably stick with Carb-boom, too. (I like apple cinnamon and the orange vanilla.) Futzing with the bag of sharkies was annoying. I did try the beans earlier this week, and was surprised by how many they want you to eat at one time. I was thinking of using the sharkies or beans as pre-run fuel, especially on days when I'm running longer after work.

I have very poor arm action (HS coach used to always yell at me to move my arms) and I was annoyed by the sloshing. I'm going to have to run with it a few more times to determine if I like it or not. I may have to suck it up and wear my belt more. Ugh!

And yes, Bob, I think you are the only one that likes GU. Well, actually the vanilla and orange burst ones aren't that bad. But that tri-berry one that I had tons of people swear was really good? Almost made me puke because the taste was so bad. I think Carb-boom is pretty tasty, though, especially the apple-cinnamon.
