Molly the Miler/Questions
Molly ran her first mile yesterday. I'm not sure exactly how far we ran because my GPS crapped out, but it had to be at least a mile. We ran almost 2 times around the retention pond, and once around is 0.55 miles. Garmin seemed to get stuck or something, though. It has issues here more than it does at home ... don't know what's up with that. Hope it's not dying.
We ran again after my run today, too. (My run was so crappy this morning. I was tired, and didn't properly "feed the goal" yesterday which didn't help things any. I managed to run the last couple of miles at a faster pace, but the beginning part just sucked). Now that we can run at least a mile, I'm trying to figure out how to fit our runs in. If I take her out after I run, I consider it to be a separate run because of the time it takes to get her leashed and pottied. I think I might start running with her at the start of my run, because the time it would take to drop her back into the house is short enough that I could still consider our run as a part of my run.
What's the maximum length of a break that you would still consider it to be a single run? I'm probably overthinking this one.
I need to decide if I want to race on Tuesday. I'm supposed to run 8 miles with 4 at lactate threshold pace (which I guess would be about 7:35 pace). But there is a semi-local race that has both 3 mile and 5 mile events on Tuesday. My race pace for either distance should be faster than 7:35. So should I:
a) run my scheduled workout
b) run the 3 mile race w/ WU and CD totalling 8 for the day
c) run the 5 mile race w/WU and CD totalling 8 for the day
d) run the 3 mile race AND the 5 mile race (they're timed so you can do both for an extra $5); WU and CD will total around 9 for the day

Ryan and I were discussing this issue, because he's doing a 10k on Tuesday, and I a 5k. I figure since it's an isolated incident, it won't be a big deal to go a little faster than L.T. pace. I'll just get some miles in before and after to get my 8 in.
right? [this is me asking you to enable me. :) ]

I once had about a 20 minute break between runs, I needed to get some on t-mill cause it was cold outside, but didn't have time to do it all before the place was closing so I ran 10.5 inside and 8.5 outside after and I semi consider it one run...just think of it more as a 15 miler probably than a 19...
Hmmm...you could go in warm up a mile or so, run the 5 hard then a mile cool down and call it good. I'd probably do that. I wish there was a good race around here tomorrow. I wanted to do a 5K near me, but it's $25 and I think that is just too much!!
