Another week with the baby still perfectly comfortable on the inside. I didn't bother with an internal exam this week, so I don't know if there's any "progress" but I haven't had anything I would consider contraction-like. I did remember to ask about an estimate of the baby's size and the current estimate is 7 pounds. (The midwife said there's a study that compared ultrasound weight estimates to estimates done with hands and the hand estimates were pretty close while the ultrasound estimates were up to a pound off). The birth weight will probably be a little higher depending on how much longer I go, but she was fairly certain I don't have a 9-pounder.
I ran 5 miles for my "long run" again this morning. The Engineer says I'm crazy, and I know a lot of people agree and think I should just hang out on the couch. I figure if I'm able to, I should - and I also think it's going to help me get back into shape faster. It's almost racing season here, and I'm getting antsy to do something but not sure what will be reasonable, distance- and time-wise. I'd really like to run the 15K in May and/or the 1/2 marathon over Memorial Day weekend but something tells me that might be a bit too ambitious. On the one hand, jumping from 5 in early March to either 9 or 13 in May is really not at all a stretch, but add a few weeks off in there + sleep deprivation + having to find time to run and it becomes more difficult. So I might just set the local August 1/2 marathon as my big race for the year, since that's pretty far away. I would really love to run a fall marathon this year, but it seems like so many now require an April or May registration, and while I know I want to run one, that is far too early for me to know if I'll be able to run one.

Wow! You're coming down the chute now! Baby will be here any day now - good for you for keeping up with the running. Physically you may be well able to do the 1/2 or even the full by fall, but one thing I unerestimated when I had my first baby was the strong emotional ties I had to her that prevented me from wanting to spend hours upon hours apart from her training. I also felt that I "had" to be there in case she wanted to nurse - I never taught her to take a bottle in the early weeks. Once I felt ready to run leaving was hard because my hubby had no way of feeding her when I was gone.
I am glad that everything's going well. Definitely keep us posted.

I think it's awesome that you are still running up to 5. Did you read the article in March RW about Paula Radcliffe...now granted, it's Paula Radcliffe, but there was a side note about some benefits maybe being there for those that get back to running soon after birth. I bet you could do either of those races in May.
